16 Dec Angsana Resort Palm Cove Queensland Wedding
Photography by Matthew Duchesne
Recently I flew up to Cairns and drove on to Palm Cove in far north Queensland, for Vicki and Steve’s wedding. Storms had been predicted but the weather looked as though it was holding off for the time being. When I arrived at the resort Vicki was clearly determined to enjoy herself, and seemed even more confident and excited once she’d put on her beautiful gown, which was designed by Lisa Merton of Culture Shock fame.
Vicki and Steve recently moved from Singapore to Melbourne while also making the arrangements for their celebrations at the Angsana Resort – where Steve had also made his very romantic proposal (in the form of a story book planted in the sand) just near the chapel. According to Vicki, Beth Mitchell from Passion8 Wedding & Event Planners helped enormously, but Steve pretty much gave full credit to Vicki for being so amazingly well organised. Steve did however arrange his own transport and managed to surprise everyone with a rock star helicopter entrance on the beach.
And so after a week of gorgeous blue skies and mill pond calm seas, the wind picked up, the sea became choppy, and bush fires raged inland. On the upside the skies were filled with dramatic clouds and a soft hazy glow. All credit to Vicki & Steve and their wedding party’s determination to enjoy the day and for getting out amongst it beneath the swaying palms and in the buffeting southerly breeze.
Fortunately the wind dropped soon after sunset and all of the guests were able to enjoy a warm balmy night’s dancing with the festivities spilling out onto the deck, and a great time was had by all.
