21 May PACT: The Passion and the Whimsy (Sydney Photography Exhibition)
PACT: The Passion and the Whimsy is the culmination of a two year residency project by Matthew Duchesne.
The exhibition explores the work and performances of emerging artists based in PACT: centre for emerging artists in Erskineville, NSW.
The large scale of the exhibition coupled with the cathedral-style layout pays homage to the theatre space and the people who work within it. Three metre long column prints lead you down the aisle to a domed ceiling of images, a recreation and reflection on sacred spaces. A combination of behind the scenes work as well as portraits of the artists. Matthew has pushed his practice through capturing the nature and dynamics of the artistic development within the walls of PACT.
This project invited the broader community to share in the artist experience, celebrating the inner of a theatre as a creative micro-community dedicated to courageous, experimental and challenging artistic practices.
